Star Chart — Astronomer's Privacy Declaration

Last updated: June 2025

Star Chart maps the cosmos without mapping you. Every star we plot is a celestial object — not a data point about the person watching it. This declaration sets out our complete commitment to that distinction.

What the telescope sees

The telescope sees stars, not observers. Star Chart records nothing personal about you. No astronomer's log, no observation schedule, no device coordinate enters our archive.

Observatory records (server logs)

Like a nightly observatory log noting only atmospheric conditions, our servers may automatically record: browser type, device category, and a masked IP fragment. These entries confirm the dome is open. They capture the sky, not the skygazer.

No spy satellites

Star Chart launches no advertising spy satellites, no behavioural analytics probes, and no third-party surveillance systems into orbit around your session.

The optics supplier (Google Fonts)

Our typefaces are ground by Google Fonts. Your browser's connection to Google may include your IP. Their declaration governs what they do with that signal from the ground.

Young astronomers

Star Chart is a wonder-filled game for all ages. No violent content, no gambling, no age restrictions. Every young astronomer is welcome under the dome. We collect nothing from any observer.

Declaration updates

If our practices change, this declaration will be updated and redated. Continued stargazing after any change signals acceptance.
